Remember when we thought the future would bring us flying cars and hoverboards? Well, surprise. Instead, we got cars with that annoying stop/start feature that we can’t turn off. But on the flip side we have gotten something vastly more interesting: generative AI. I’ll admit that the scene from the Matrix where Morpheus opines about the world marveling at the invention of “A.I.” runs like a loop in my brain as I type this. And while we haven’t reached the terrifying epoch of a sentient and singular artificial conscientiousness, we have entered into a new era: The Age of Agentic AI.
Move over, Age of Enlightenment – you had your fun with all those fancy philosophical debates about reason and progress. We’re now in an era where algorithms can automate tasks like create weird images of flying elephants in a tutu, have them printed and fulfilled, and sell them on Etsy for us, all done auto-magically by AI automation.
Remember the Age of Aquarius, with all its peace, love, and harmony? Well, this is like that, except instead of aligning planets, we’ve got aligning algorithms. And instead of horrible psychedelic drugs, we’ve got computational efficiency – which is certainly more useful for getting your taxes done.
The really wild part? In this Age of Agentic, the agents are becoming more proactive than your most enthusiastic coworker (you know who you are, Brandon). Mention once in passing that you’re thinking about learning to cook, and suddenly your AI has enrolled you in a virtual cooking class, ordered ingredients, and probably started a food blog in your name.
In the Age of Agentic, we are all slowly morphing into that most curious of 21st-century creatures: the Perpetually Prompting Human. The real horror? Our kids might grow up thinking this is normal. Little Timmy’s first words: “Please regenerate response.” Little Josie at show and tell: “For optimal engagement, I will now demonstrate my pet hamster with the following parameters…”
When it comes to the Age of Agentic in business, picture this: It’s 2026, and your phone buzzes at 3 AM – but don’t panic, it’s just your AI sales agent letting you know it closed a massive deal with Walmart’s procurement AI. While you were dreaming about spatulas, the algorithms spent hours in a complex negotiation dance, running thousands of pricing scenarios per second. Your AI cleverly leveraged a trending TikTok about air fryers to nudge up the price point, while Walmart’s AI countered with forecasted consumer spending data. By the time you’re sipping your morning coffee, the signed contract is in your inbox, and your ergonomic can openers are already being scheduled for distribution. The future of B2B sales isn’t about power lunches and firm handshakes – it’s about competing algorithms finding the perfect Nash equilibrium while we sleep.
So here’s to the Age of Agentic, the dawn of a new era humanity doesn’t fully understand, but is adopting at a pace faster than you can say machine learning. After all, in the Age of Agentic, the future isn’t just automated – it’s hilariously, and sometimes terrifyingly efficient. Now, if you’ll excuse me, my AI agent says it’s time for my scheduled spontaneity session.
P.S. This post has been optimized for maximum human amusement by three different AI platforms, a digital humor agent, and one very confused spam bot who wandered into the wrong server.
P.P.S. Remember: The Age of Agentic isn’t coming, it’s already here. The only question is whether your business will be leading the change, or playing catch-up. If you want someone to help you thrive in this age, hit us up, we’d love to work with you.
This article addresses the following main questions: Why is simplicity a myth? Why should designers prioritize clarity over minimalism? How does context impact the perception of simplicity and clarity in design? Why should clarity, rather than simplicity, be the North Star?
